Train to be a
Naming and Couples Celebrant

National Qualification - NOCN Level 3 Diploma in Naming and Couples Celebrancy (RQF)

Could you run a fascinating part time business in a growing market? Being a Celebrant might be just what you are looking for! You will create and deliver important life events, celebrated by families and couples which will be remembered forever.

At Civil Ceremonies we have trained Celebrants to conduct ceremonies to a very high standard for over 21 years. We offer the national qualification NOCN Level 3 Diploma in Celebrancy: Naming and Couples (RQF) enabling us to share our knowledge and skills and help you on the way to the most rewarding occupation you could imagine – running your own celebrancy business.

Our training will provide you with a complete toolkit for a whole new celebrancy business that is satisfying and enjoyable. We suggest that you look at the information here and then call us on 01480 276080 to talk through the training and the nature of the work. We can also put you in touch with Celebrants who have taken our training previously.

Training qualifications and accreditation can be confusing, and it is worth thoroughly investigating exactly what qualification is being offered to you.

The Qualification

The Level 3 Diploma is the highest level accredited national qualification available in Naming and Couples Celebrancy.

It is a complete qualification that does not require any other modules or elements in other subjects to be taken to achieve it.  On successful completion of the course, you will receive certificates from the awarding body National Open College Network (NOCN) that reflect your achievement.  The NOCN is a leading credit-based awarding organisation that has been creating opportunities for students and learners for over 30 years.

The qualification is listed on the Ofqual Register of Regulated Qualification. The qualification number is 601/1586/5. It has 13 units, 41 credits and 287 guided learning hours.

See: Ofqual Register of Regulated Qualifications

To become an accredited national qualification, regulated by Ofqual, training needs to meet stringent criteria related to exam content, delivery, assessment and reporting procedures.

The diploma is equivalent to the following qualifications:

In England & Northern Ireland  – any other level 3 qualification, such as GCE ‘A’ levels or ‘AS’ levels, level 3 BTEC, NVQ level 3, Level 3 Vocational Qualifications and other Advanced Diplomas

In Wales  – NVQ level 3, Vocational Qualification level 3, AS and A Level, Welsh Bacclaureate Qualification Advanced, ESW, WKS, Apprenticeship Framework

In Scotland – the equivalent would be a Level 6 qualification, equivalent to Highers, SVQ Level 3, Professional Development Awards, National Progression Awards and National Certificates

While there are no formal entry requirements to undertake the qualification with us, we require you to complete an application form and writing exercise, both of which are assessed, before a place can be offered on the course.

The training programme contains a mixture of assessment methods and is operated on a pass/fail basis. Some parts of your training can be taken again if you should need to strengthen a weak area (a £25 + vat charge is made for each element that is retaken). We make no apologies for the fact that the training is challenging, there is much more involved than most people envisage. You will be assessed on every aspect of the distance learning and residential elements of the training programme by highly experienced and qualified tutor/assessors.

Civil Ceremonies Ltd is a NOCN Recognised Learning Centre, providing training to a nationally recognised standard.  We have won Regional National Training Awards and have been recognised with a special award for the advice and guidance that we give to learners.

You will be able to promote your services in the total confidence that you have been fully assessed as competent to conduct ceremonies and provide a high-quality service to your clients.

Civil Ceremonies is a member of the Wedding Celebrancy Commission. The commission is made up of professional organisations and training providers in the celebrancy sector. The organisation provides representation and support to wedding and family celebrants in the UK and information to couples, families and external organisations seeking a greater understanding of wedding celebrancy. It has introduced professional standards for wedding and family celebrants and facilitated important independent research in the sector.
