What is a Civil Partnership Celebration Ceremony?

This is a Ceremony to enrich the formal proceedings of Civil Partnership Registration, it is not a legal requirement, just something you choose to do.

Is the Civil Partnership Ceremony part of the Official Civil Partnership Registration?

No, the Civil Partnership Act makes no provision for a ceremony to be provided to accompany the official procedure, which is carried out at the Register Office or in premises approved for Civil Partnerships.

Where can a ceremony be held?

Absolutely anywhere you wish! You may already have a special venue in mind, a club, restaurant, pub, hotel or a community venue.

Can we hold our ceremony at our home or someone else's home?

The answer to this is yes, but there are certain conditions that apply. Take a look at our 'Guidelines for Ceremonies at Home' policy, this will give you an idea of the sort of things we will check and need you to consider. There is an additional charge of £30 for this service

How do we arrange a ceremony?

Simply contact us and we will send you a pack containing your ceremony choices and allocate one of our Celebrants to conduct your ceremony.

The Celebrant will call you to arrange to meet you beforehand. This meeting usually takes place where the ceremony will be actually held. Please be assured that our Celebrants treat any details relating to your ceremony with the strictest confidence.

We have questions about the legal aspects of Civil Partnership Registration, who can help us?

The act of signing the Civil Partnership Register forms the legal aspect of the union and all questions about the legal aspects of Civil Partnership should be addressed to the Civil Partnership Registrar at your local Register Office.
