Tutors
Oliver Williams trained as an actor at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama under the world-renowned voice coach Patsy Rodenburg. He has worked for the Royal Shakespeare Company, Royal National Theatre and television broadcasters BBC and ITV. He began teaching speech and drama for RADA Shakespeare Certificates and Trinity Speech and Drama examinations in 2000 and now provides voice & speech workshops to corporate clients and secondary schools in London, Birmingham and Wakefield, as well as overseas universities in Hong Kong and China.
Oliver is passionate about language and the written word and enjoys working with people at all levels of experience and requirements to help them realize their natural power of speech.
Melanie MacHugh has been working as a professional actress for 16 years.
She trained at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and has worked in many theatres in Great Britain and Ireland including the Abbey Theatre in Dublin, the National Theatre in London and spent a very successful season with the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford Upon Avon and the West End. She has performed in both classical and modern plays, most recently touring Scotland and to London in Conor McPherson's Tony-award winning play, Shining City.
Her interest in voice work and public speaking is inspired by the great teachers Patsy Rodenburg at the National and Cicley Berry at the RSC, who is probably the most famous voice teacher in the world. Melanie is also a winner of the prestigious Yeats Competition in Sligo, Ireland and uses poetry in workshops as a way of demonstrating the possibilities of vocal expression.
